What is TCAP grooming?

Working with the TCAP approach is much more than grooming with treats. It is above all grooming the animal by teaching it to accept touches via its motivation in exchange for respecting its fears and listening to its sensitive points.

The TCAP model in grooming has been carefully created from the scientific laws of learning, a thorough understanding of the micro-signals of canine language, a complete reorganisation of the working environment and applied behaviour analysis (ABA).

The grooming or medical experience is often seen by the dog as threatening to its well-being. This threat generates stress

Stress experienced during grooming and/or at the vet's office that is felt as distress automatically triggers an "alarm or emergency reaction" in the animal's body.

It is important to know that stresses are cumulative in the body of each individual (dogs, cats or humans).

The effects of high stress alter the body and brain, which take several months to repair.

It is essential for a professional and for dog owners to understand that stress has a devastating effect on a pet's health.

See the news: "Can grooming stress become a threat to your pet's health?"

The dog's body language, with its signals and micro-signals, indicates at all times its willingness to cooperate or not with our sometimes intrusive gestures.

The animal that is afraid and not listened to by professionals (not respected in its physical and psychological limits) will undergo enormous stress that will be imprinted in its body and limbic system.

He will gradually lose confidence in his own ability to communicate his emotions to human beings, he will quickly understand that he has no power over his own destiny in the presence of human beings since no matter what he does to communicate he is not heard, understood, nor respected. He quickly generalizes the thought that human beings transgress his bodily limits, his emotional limits.

Below are some examples of stress generators in animals:

It is for all these reasons that as dog owners you can claim nothing less than a TCAP behavioural grooming service in stress reduction by a TCAP certified professional (TCAP Certified) or in the process of TCAP certification (In process of TCAP certification).

Dogs should not be groomed at all costs for beauty but should be prepared for grooming first and then groomed for their well-being.

Depending on the adaptability of each dog, 4 to 5 one-hour sessions may be necessary to prepare for grooming (including grooming). In this way, the dog learns to participate voluntarily in the grooming game, through the benefit of motivation, by making the choice to accept the touches and various stimuli.

By respecting the individual physical and psychological limits of the animal and avoiding going beyond its tolerance threshold, the TCAP-certified professional is able to considerably reduce the stress level

We aim to develop a trusting relationship with each animal in order to experience collaboration and even communion between animal and human.

Desired behaviours are reinforced (calmness) and we teach alternative behaviours to undesirable ones (getting on and off the table).

"TCAP is a sound investment in your dog's health and well-being"

"Invest early in your dog's welfare and the multiple dividends will last a lifetime"

TCAP is a unique behavioural grooming approach that combines several modern scientific behavioural techniques. This model has been woven from more than 20 years of experience in grooming and animal behaviour, several specialised studies and practical workshops (see our expertise here: Expertise), a daily spiritual journey, reflections allowing an expansion of consciousness, the universal laws governing the whole universe, a healthier lifestyle, a beautiful friendship with our friends, students, clients, dogs, cats, sheep, alpacas, hens, ducks, horses, monkeys, crows, fish, parrots, plants, trees, and especially with our friends the humans.

TCAP was born out of a relationship of love, friendship and day-to-day partnership; in short, it was all created within an association of two beings who share the same passion and who look in the same direction, wishing for the welfare of all living beings.
